Project Description
This multi-purpose was built as a home for the NBA's Brooklyn Nets and also hosts events such as sporing events, concerts, and conventions. Glass curtain wall covered by a "latticework" made up of 12,000 preweathered steel panels. A 117-by-56-foot "Oculus" extends over a 5,660 square-foot section of the plaza outside of the main arena entrance, and contains an irregularly-shaped display screen that loops around on the inside of the structure. It was awarded LEED Silver Certificiation and is the first sports and entertainment venue in the New York metro area to receive this status.
Scope of Services
CDC provided design and structural engineering for the custom curtain wall building enclosure and exterior weathered steel facade around building and canopy. CDC was the building enclosure Engineer of Record and also performed full-time site observation of various challenging installations.
